A RARE SHORT SHAFTED AFRICAN TRIBAL KNOBKERRIE, circa mid 19th Century, probably Zulu, shaped from a single piece of hard-wood with a large ball of approx. 12 in. circumference, shaft 12 in. length with flared end, with what appears to be some Boer inscription of which 'SAULA X NOCO X' is decipherable, some splitting to the shaft and a display hole has been drilled about 2 in. from the end, 15 1/2 in. overall
